WHITEHORSE, YUKON – July 8, 2024 – As a commitment to investing in renewable energy systems and reducing GHGs, Northern Vision Development (“NVD”) partnered with Solvest to install a rooftop solar system at NVD Place, a downtown commercial property in Whitehorse, Yukon.
The installation of 192 high-efficiency solar panel modules on NVD Place will produce approximately 2,051,839 kilowatt-hours (kWh) over the next 25 years. The emissions offset from solar energy production is estimated at 430 grams per kWh for this project. This translates to 36 tonnes per year or 900 tonnes of CO2 over the 25-year life span of the project. For perspective, this is like taking 6 typical passenger vehicles off the road each year of production.
The solar project is part of NVD’s ongoing commitment to reducing its carbon footprint and taking
steps to support Yukon’s climate action goals.
“Working with Solvest to bring solar energy to NVD Place is an exciting step in our ongoing focus on environmental sustainability and being part of the clean energy transition. Not only does the solar project at NVD Place reduce our environmental impact, but it also provides important utility savings for our organization in the long-term.”
Michael Hale, Chief Executive Officer, Northern Vision Development
“NVD’s investment in renewables is not just a testament to their commitment to the environment and sustainability, but their commitment to the North and its people. By investing in renewables, they are reducing the Territory’s reliance on fossil fuel, reducing their operating expenses, and are supporting innovation and growth of the renewable energy industry here in the Territory. We look forward to many energy conservation projects with NVD.”
Dan Guhl, Chief Business Development Officer, Solvest Inc.
