Northern Vision Development (NVD) is always looking for the best and brightest to join our senior management team. NVD’s Real Estate Division is currently looking for a Director of Real Estate to work alongside the President and the CEO on the delivery of commercial and multi-family residential real estate projects from our Whitehorse, Yukon office.

Over the five or more years you’ve worked in commercial property development, you’ve proven that you are not afraid to think outside the box in order to find the best approach to achieve results. What will you do? 

Below are some of the primary responsibilities you will be taking on in this role. There will be more, but we can discuss those in person. 

The Director of Real Estate is an integral member of the NVD Senior Management Team who will be responsible for project management, planning, permitting, recruiting and managing consultants and contractors, and interfacing with design and construction to successfully develop or redevelop commercial real estate projects.

The position will support the work of NVD colleagues by identifying investment opportunities, contributing to market and financial analysis, financing, business development, and property management.

The position involves all phases of real estate development including     site identification and selection, feasibility assessment, predevelopment, securing public/private funding and support for projects, financial analysis, construction management, planning, and community outreach.

What do you need to know?
  • Undergraduate Degree in construction management, business, planning, architecture, community development, asset management, or related field or equivalent experience and education (i.e. PMP designation). 
  • A minimum of five years’ experience working in real estate development including experience with project management and project costing of new developments from concept through municipal approvals, financing, construction, and occupancy.
  • Proven success in managing projects that were delivered on time and on budget.
  • Experience working with general contractors, consultants, and regulatory agencies in developing commercial and multi-family residential projects.
  • Experience developing financial pro formas and business plans for commercial real estate development.
  • Proven success at managing relationships with key stakeholders and contracted professionals.
  • Ability to develop and maintain complex Excel spreadsheets.
  • Computer skills including basic knowledge of e-mail, internet, word processing, and basic CAD skills.
