Guest Service Agent

The Edge (Edgewater) hotel is currently looking to acquire staff for it newly renovated hotel. First Impressions are everything! Your engaging smile and personality are the essence of a great Guest Services Agent with Edgewater Hotel (the Edge). You will be empowered to deliver on our mission to deliver top notch Yukon hospitality and services, and you will have the opportunity to create lasting memories for every guest.

Hotel Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, and overlooking the majestic Yukon River, and historic White Pass Railway, the 33 room Edge combines; value, quality, and comfort with the best location in the city. Our hotel’s unique, individual style combines sophistication and modern amenities with great Yukon service and the personalized comforts of home.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Greet guests and patrons as they arrive
  • Handle guest check-ins and check-outs appropriately
  • Manage accurate folios of all rooms and groups
  • Ask for identification and ensure that the provided credentials are accurate
  • Assist guests regarding hotel facilities, and Yukon attractions in an informative and helpful way
  • Follow department policies, procedures and service standards
  • Follow all safety policies
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Take reservations over the telephone, through emails and in person. Note special requests, payment options and any other important information
  • Email and written correspondence of confirmations, cancellations and invoicing
  • Guest Services and Concierge related tasks such as arranging recreation trips and recommending local activities/dining options
  • Balance cash out at the end of the shift and generate reports for night audit

Qualifications:

  • Proficient in the English language (verbal & written), second language is an asset
  • Must be able to handle a multitude of tasks in an intense, ever-changing environment
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Previous customer related experience an asset
  • Previous PMS experience an asset
  • Computer literate in Microsoft Window applications an asset
  • Must possess a professional presentation
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Hospitality Diploma is an asset
  • Must be flexible in terms of working hours
  • Must have the ability to handle cash effectively and accurately

Physical Aspects of Position:
Physical aspects of the position include but are not limited to the following:

  • Frequent standing and walking throughout shift
  • Occasional kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting
  • Occasional ascending or descending stairs

Housekeeping – Floor Attendant

Edgewater Hotel is currently looking to acquire staff for it newly renovated boutique Hotel. First Impressions are everything! As the Housekeeping Floor Captain at the Edgewater Hotel you will have the opportunity to create lasting memories for every Guest, ensuring rooms are comfortable, inviting and clean.

Hotel Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, and overlooking the majestic Yukon River, and historic White Pass Railway, the 33 room Edgewater Hotel combines; value, quality, and comfort with the best location in the city. Our hotel’s unique, individual style combines sophistication and modern amenities with great Yukon service and the personalized comforts of home.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Supervising Houskeeping Room Attendants to ensuring the cleanliness of guest rooms, while adhering to Hotel standards outlined in training.
  • Read the log book, follow through special request, check traces reports and ensure that they are all completed.
  • Assigning room attendant sections and highlighting the VIP’S and special request on the assignment sheets.
  • Be aware of any pending rooms and assign them to Room Attendants.
  • Make sure that the all VC rooms and turn up all turn down rooms before 10:00 am call them if allot of rooms are needed to be inspected and stay on top of the VC, pick-ups discrepant and OOO rooms.
  • Rush rooms as needed by the Front Desk Calling the Supervisors.
  • Communicate all refuse service, late service and pick-ups to the PM Coordinator and Manager.
  • File paper work as given by Rooms Division Manager.
  • Close out your shift as instructed and file all your shifts reports.

Qualifications:

  • Requires Basic knowledge of computer.  
  • Must be able to coach council and develop employees through basic skill.  
  • Must be able to motivate by example either on the production floor.  
  • Maintain a safe working environment according to OSHA regulations, that would protect both the employee and coworkers.
  • Previous experience in supervising.  
  • Able to communicate well both verbally and written.  
  • Reading and counting is essential.  
  • Computer efficient in both Excel and Word is preferred.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Must be able to lift a maximum of 50 lbs. throughout the day.
  • Ability to follow directions, perform tasks with attention to detail, speed accuracy, and follow-through.  
  • Ability to work without direct supervision.  
  • Ability to work well as part of a team, Set up and organize workstation with designated supplies and equipment.  
  • Replenish supplies and equipment as needed during the shift.  
  • Report any faulty equipment, linen shortages, maintenance needs, safely hazards and other problems immediately to your supervisor.

Public Area, Laundry & Turn Down Attendant

Edgewater Hotel (the Edge) is currently looking to acquire staff for it newly renovated hotel. First Impressions are everything! Your care and attention to detail in the laundry operation and janitorial will ensure exceptional standards for our hotel guests - you will take pride in the role you play facilitating a memorable guest stay.

Hotel Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Whitehorse, and overlooking the majestic Yukon River, and historic White Pass Railway, the 33 room Edge combines; value, quality, and comfort with the best location in the city. Our hotel’s unique, individual style combines sophistication and modern amenities with great Yukon service and the personalized comforts of home.

Summary of Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Rooms Division Manager, responsibilities and essential job functions include but are not limited to the following:

  • Consistently offer professional, friendly and engaging service
  • Carry out various functions within the laundry, public areas and turn down services
  • Ensure all areas public areas of the property are immaculate and clean
  • Assist Guest Reception with fulfilling guest requests
  • Check all linen and sort out damaged linen
  • Load / unload washing machines and dryers as required
  • Follow departmental policies, procedures and service standards
  • Report necessary maintenance items
  • Following all safety and sanitation policies
  • Turn down beds and refresh guest rooms to ensure guest satisfaction
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in housekeeping an asset
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and problem solving abilities
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work cohesively with fellow colleagues as part of a team
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, remaining calm and courteous at all times
  • Available for shift work including evenings and weekends.

Physical Aspects of Position (include but are not limited to):

  • Constant standing and walking throughout shift
  • Frequent lifting and carrying up to 30 lbs.
  • Frequent kneeling, pushing, pulling, lifting, climbing stairs
